About Us
MY HOMESBLOGS is an independent home improvement publication. We write practical guides and build free calculators so homeowners can plan projects, talk to contractors with confidence and buy the right amount of material. You can always find us at homesblogs.
What MY HOMESBLOGS is
We started as a small set of spreadsheets used on real job sites to estimate concrete, lumber and shingles. Friends kept asking for them, so we turned them into web calculators and began writing up the questions that came with them.
Today the site covers home improvement, DIY, flooring, roofing, construction, interiors and maintenance. Every article is written to answer a real question — how much, how long, which one, and when to call a professional.
We are not a store and we do not sell materials. We would rather you buy the right amount the first time.
What we publish
Four kinds of content, each built around a practical decision.
Calculators
Twenty free tools for materials, volume and equipment sizing. Each shows its formula and a worked example.
Guides
Long-form references we update as products, prices and codes change — measuring, ordering, planning.
How-to articles
Step-by-step instructions for projects a careful homeowner can finish, with honest time and skill estimates.
Maintenance
Seasonal checklists and small repairs that stop minor problems from becoming expensive ones.
How we write and check content
Our editorial approach is simple: be accurate, be specific and be clear about what we do not know.
- Formulas are published. Every calculator page explains its calculation in plain language, so you can check it yourself.
- Experienced reviewers. Articles are reviewed by someone who has done the work — a contractor, installer or technician.
- Dates you can trust. We show when a page was published and when it was last updated, and we update the date only when content changes.
- No sponsored recommendations. We do not accept payment for product placement or links.
- Corrections. If you find an error, tell us. We fix confirmed mistakes and note significant corrections at the end of the article.
Estimates are a starting point. For structural, electrical, gas and permitted work, always involve a licensed professional.
Who writes here
Daniel spent fifteen years as a general contractor framing, roofing and pouring flatwork before moving into writing. He checks every calculator formula against how crews actually order materials.
Hannah covers flooring, paint and finish carpentry. She has renovated three older homes room by room and still does most of her own trim work.
Omar writes about heating, cooling and home energy. He trained as an HVAC technician and focuses on helping homeowners ask contractors better questions.
